Welcome to our unique 2-day Write Like a Thought Leader Boot Camp, designed exclusively for scientists at the Max Planck Academy. This workshop, led by seasoned journalists, is dedicated to developing your thought leadership skills and transforming the way you communicate your research. Unlike standard science communication workshops, this boot camp focuses on positioning you as a thought leader and effectively sharing your expertise with a broader audience.
Overview
The boot camp is structured into two comprehensive parts:
Day 1: Find Your Thought-Leadership Niche
Morning Session:
- Introduction to Thought Leadership: Understand the principles of thought leadership and why it is essential for scientists. Learn how to position yourself as an authority and a trusted voice in your domain.
- Identifying Your Niche: Discover and articulate your unique thought-leadership niche. This session helps you pinpoint the intersection of your expertise, passion, and the audience's needs.
Afternoon Session:
- Creating Story Headlines: Learn how to craft compelling headlines that capture attention and convey the essence of your research. This session focuses on techniques for creating engaging and memorable titles for your stories.
Day 2: Create and Write Your Story
Morning Session:
- Pitch Our Editor Session: In this interactive session, pitch your story ideas to a professional editor. Receive real-time feedback on your concepts and learn how to refine your pitch to capture the interest of editors and audiences alike.
Afternoon Session:
- Writing Your First Draft: Apply the skills learned on the first day to write the first draft of a blog post for your website, LinkedIn, or your Max Planck institute's page. This hands-on session provides structured writing time with expert feedback.
